Spar 300

Overview
          The Spar 300 family represents a comprehensive approach to surveying and mapping underground utilities. It is fully integrated with the Trimble Access surveying environment, and operates seamlessly with Trimble GNSS receivers, may be used with Trimble Total Stations and is available from many Trimble dealers.

          The Spar employs a set of magnetic field sensors to accurately measure the 3-D offset to an underground utility and automatically combines this offset with absolute positions obtained via GNSS or other survey methods to obtain the 3-D coordinates of the utility. The Spar's novel approach allows it to measure the 3-D offset from any vantage point within range and its built-in acceleration and magnetic sensors allow it to operate in almost any position. Moreover, it offers two distinct operating modes, line and sonde, extending its capabilities to most surveying situations.

 

 

          The Spar 300 product family consists of the Spar 300 and the Spar 300 PPS. The Spar 300 is usually mounted on a survey pole and is the right tool for utilities within a radial range of approximately 10 ft. (3 m). Two Spar 300 PPS units can collaborate to extend the measurement range up to approximately 50 ft. (15 m). The two Spars use a private wireless link to exchange data and a synchronization signal from GPS satellites to collaborate and are a good choice for deep utilities and other situations where a longer range is needed.

 

Features

Accurate Utility Position and Depth

          In a typical cable or pipe survey the Spar is mounted vertically on a survey pole directly below the GNSS receiver. The surveyor monitors the display continuously, using the on-screen indicators to maintain casual contact with the utility center line. Measurements may be collected automatically at fixed intervals or with single-shot measurements at selected locations. The pole may be equipped with a survey wheel for convenience.

 

Extended Depth and Distance Ranges

          When the measurement range of the Spar needs to be extended, either because the utility is buried deeper than the 10 ft. (3 m) range of a single spar or because access to the centerline is restricted or difficult, two Spar 300 PPS units may be mounted together on a cart or a vehicle. The separation of the Spars determines how much the range is extended, for example, a 6 ft. (2 m) separation yields about 40 ft. (12 m) range.

 

 

 

Dual-Spar Increased Flexibility

          A Dual-Spar system using the Spar 300 RL1G1 may be configured to measure the 3-D separation between the Spars automatically. This is done by configuring one of the Spars as a GNSS base station, along the other one to continuously monitor its relative position. The automatic baseline measurement increases the flexibility of the system significantly, since the Spars can now be moved with more ease, even continuously, allowing the surveyor to position them optimally. 

 

 

10 Watt Transmitter - The Broadband Loc-10Tx Transmitter Spar configuration C014 has multiple induction frequencies and Spar direct-connection frequencies ranging from 32Hz to 9.82kHz. &nbsnbsp;This transmitter comes in a soft carry bag with connection leads and ground stake.

Accessories

The plastic non-conductive extension rods have both male and female threads at opposite ends to screw together and extend the length. With the signal clamp attached to the extension rod it can now be safely used on overhead lines and lines in trenches or manholes.

Loc-10Tx 10 Watt Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery Kit comes with a charger, power cable and Ni-MH battery. The battery life with rechargeable battery is 60 hours at 1 watt, 12 hours at 5 watt and 7 hours at 10 watt output.

Transmitter Vehicle Power Lead can be used to power the transmitter when connected to a target line at high output levels and long periods, this 30ft/9m lead will power the transmitter, it will not charge the transmitter battery. Compatible with the 10 Watt Loc-10Tx transmitter only.



Induction Clamp is used to apply the transmitter signal to a pipe or cable when it is not possible or convenient to use the direct connection leads.
